Today, as we were walking out of the store, Geron told me that I didn't
carry my pregnancy wait like I was having a baby. Wait..did that make
sense? He was saying that I didn't look pregnant by the way I was carrying
my baby weight. So, I said, "So you're saying I just look fat?" "Its a
compliment" he replied. I didn't understand how it was a compliment and
still don't. I would much rather be told I look pregnant than fat. I mean,
if you've seen me lately, my tummy sticks out farther than my chest now,
quite a few inches to be exact. And I'm carrying high. Please tell me I
look like I'm going to have a baby. I like that, I really do. Being told I
look fat, which aren't the words Geron used, though it seemed that way to
me, is NOT what we want to hear. I think perhaps it all came up because I
was wearing a t-shirt (maternity, mind you) and shorts. And t-shirts just
aren't flattering anyway, and if they're large or baggy, they don't
accentuate anything so you probaby couldn't tell whether someone was
expecting or not. All this to say, just tell me I look like I"m going to be
a mommy. But be sure to stop after the baby arrives. Then, I will just be
fat and I won't want to hear it then, either.

Not QUITE the right thing to say

You look like you're going to have a baby, and you're gorgeous. Geron in his own, backward, typically male way was trying to tell you that you look beautiful. And you, being full of hormones, misunderstood what he was trying to say and merely heard what he said. Don't feel bad, though. This is what all pregnant women go through. But don't worry, it will be over soon. You have less than three months before beautiful baby girl gets here!
Love ya!
I don't know jenn hacker, but she is right! you are beautiful, and Geron knows it too! Trust him when he says that he didn't mean it the way you heard it.
i saw you. you're gorgeous. i think geron might have meant that you're not getting fat in the same way that a lot of pregnant women do. you're not waddling and carrying weight in weird places. you just look like cute lydia from the back, and then you turn around, and there's a baby on the front! I've seen other women like that. from the back, you'd never know they were pregnant, then they turn around, and BAM. there's a baby sticking out the front. i guess he was saying all your new weight is in your baby belly, not, like, your ankles and hips, or something. you're not all swollen and bloated all over. and i think that means you'll be back to normal in no time. when the baby's out, you'll look like lydia again in, like, two weeks. if not, sue me.
Don't bother suing Analooroo--she doesn't have any money. I think you look pregnant. I also think you look beautiful!
When I was pregnant with Everett, I was going to summer school. The end of the classes, whe I was 7 months pregnant, I said something about the person I was riding with having a car wreck that morning, and we were a little concerned since I was pregnant. One of the guys in the class turned around and looked at me and said, "I didn't know you were pregnant!" Some of us just carry differently. And foks with wide shoulders and hips just don't show that much!
i was about 6 months, or maybe just 5, but anyway, DEFINITELY showing, and still, when i told people i was pregnant, they'd be like "really?!?!?!" i wanted to smack them and say "well, YEAH, do you think i am normally shaped like this?" so i smell what you're steppin' in, lydia, but i concur with everyone else that you look beautiful
LOL! I smell what you're steppin in? I've never heard that before, but I LOVE it!
I knew you were all my friends or friends and family for a reason. Thanks you. You ALL have me laughing out loud this morning and feeling much better about my appearance. Afterall, I told all of you who were at the wedding that I'm a model. Of course I'm beautiful! (HA!)
Even if I can't spell "thank".
As Lydia pointed out in an e-mail to me, we should point out that we were not trying to bash Geron (of course we weren't). We were merely emphasizing to Lydia that Geron didn't say what he meant, and she - being on a hormonal roller-coaster - heard only the words and not the meaning behind them. Love to you all.
